These "Three Jewels" Can Make or Break Your Practice

The three jewels are the three places where you can find refuge or support, when times are challenging. When you need inspiration or motivation, when you've fallen off the path or find yourself going in a direction that you didn't really want to be; this is where the three jewels come to your rescue.
This is what I intend to talk about in today's blog.

The concept of the Three Jewels is one of the foundational teachings coming from Buddhism. But the knowledge transmitted here doesn't need to be restricted only to the spiritual path, it can be seen throughout all aspects of life!

The Three Jewels are the Buddha, the Dharma and the Sangha, meaning the enlightened one, the teachings and the community.

1. The Buddha - The Enlightened One

It's important to recognize here that "The Buddha" is not referring to a specific person. Even the one who we often think of as "the buddha", known as Siddhartha Guatama, was just one person in a long lineage of individuals who reached enlightenment or joined the "buddhahood". Buddha means "one who is awake".
In the context of the Three Jewels, the Buddha serves as a source of inspiration when you feel stuck, demotivated, or unsure about your practice. It reminds you of the state to aspire to and the role models you look up to. This Jewel rekindles your motivation and renews your commitment to the spiritual path.

2. The Dharma - The Teachings or the Path

Dharma means path. It can be interpreted as your purpose, your goal, the teachings or the practice. Finding refuge in the Dharma means relying on your practice. And if you're reading this, you've probably done some practices with me on YouTube of on our website and I am sure that you have experienced some benefit that comes after you do your practice! This is the Dharma! When you feel down, or stuck, de-motivated, step on your mat, do some sun salutations, some spinal rotations, some conscious breathing - do something - and like magic you suddenly feel better, you feel calm, centered, re-invigorated. This is it! Let yourself find safety and support with your practice.

3. The Sangha - The Community

Your community can significantly impact your growth and well-being. Surrounding yourself with like-minded people who share your goals and aspirations can help you stay inspired and motivated. As yoga teachers, we find fulfillment in helping our students transform through their practice. Watching their growth and supporting them through their challenges is a rewarding experience for us. And as eternal students ourselves, our Sangha has been invaluable in our own spiritual evolution and motivation.

With the Three Jewels in mind, we are excited to introduce our new community section for all of our members.

Unleashing the Power of Uddiyana Bandha: A Key to Unlocking Inner Transformation

Today, I want to share with you one of my favorite and most transformative practices in Hatha Yoga: Uddiyana Bandha.  This powerful technique, also known as the "abdominal lock," has not only helped me in my personal practice but has also been a source of inspiration for many of my students. There's a reason I chose this practice to be the first 10 Day Challenge I shared on our YouTube channel! Now let's dive into the incredible benefits of Uddiyana Bandha and how it can transform your body, mind, and spirit. What is Uddiyana Bandha? Uddiyana Bandha is an ancient yogic technique involving the contraction of the abdominal muscles and the diaphragm. In Sanskrit, "Uddiyana" means "flying up" or "ascending," while "Bandha" refers to a "lock" or "bond." By engaging Uddiyana Bandha, we create an upward lift of energy that stimulates and balances our internal systems. Physical Benefits of Uddiyana Bandha Uddiyana B...

The Power of Habit: Transforming Your Energy in 30 Days

In a world filled with uncertainty and distractions, how we spend our time has a profound effect on our physical, mental, and emotional well-being. Adopting good habits and routines, no matter how small they seem, can significantly change our lives for the better. Committing to a positive action for 20-30 minutes each day for 30 days can ignite a transformative power within us. It might seem like a small commitment, but the cumulative effect of this practice on our energy, ambition, and motivation can be enormous.  So, why does this work? The Science of Habit Formation Our brains love habits. These repeated patterns of behavior gradually move from our conscious thought into automatic behavior, carving pathways in our brain that make it easier to repeat the behavior over time. In essence, our brain rewards us for the predictability and simplicity of habits. Habits also free up our mental resources. When something is a habit, we don't need to think about it, it just happens. This men...
